Austin-Healey Sprite - Sprite engine ID
Hi Guys, I have recently purchase a Spite Mk2. The original papers are AWOL but I have a chassis No. HAN6/17541 and engine number 12V639 ELO 74663. Early days for me and a steep learning curve ahead but the engine No. Prefix tells me it’s not the original motor ( I think ) and searching around on the internet, I can’t find a good description of what that engine spec would be. Any assistance on this subject would be greatly appreciated. Kind regards, Andy Jarvis. |

Hi Andy Congrats on the purchase. I would recommend you post under the MG - Midget & Sprite Techniacal pages. Thas a very active section with no real distinction between Sprites and Midgets Your chassis number seems to tally up to a mk 2 Sprite. But cant help on the engine number |

12V means a 1275 engine surely? You can get a build certificate from British Motor Heritage: http://www.heritage-motor-centre.co.uk/archive-services/ |
