MG Midget and Sprite Technical - 1500 expansion tank
I am having problems with the expansion tank on my 1500, the tube that goes to the bottom has rusted through at the top just in side the tank i have managed to get another tank which looks like going the same way soon ,i have put a plastic tube down the inside of the tube and sealed it round the outsides of the tube.not sure how long it will last but as tanks are no longer available, and i was wondering if i could use one of the tanks in the photo,my question is will the tube connecting at the bottom of the tank be ok, i cant see why not as it will be under the water level so should be just the same as it going in the top through a tube to the bottom.hope all this makes sense. |

Yep, that'll work-- Moss are still showing the midget one as in stock but not cheap at 100 quid https://www.moss-europe.co.uk/expansion-tank-arh250.html |

Make sure the cap is the correct pressure, they might be interchangeable? 15 PSI I think... Then should be good to go. |

my car is a 1500 and a different one.the moss one are for earlier cars. The cap the ally tank comes with is a 16psi one, i think that makes a 3 degree f difference in water temp or you can get a 13psi cap. |
