MG Midget and Sprite Technical - 1500 Mechanical fuel pump
Can anyone tell me if the sealing ring sits in the body of the pump or is sandwiched in between the body and top of the fuel pump. Thanks |

This is for the Spitfire 1300, assuming (always dangerous) that the pumps don't vary that much and the drawing is correct. To me it looks like the filter screen goes into the top part as the inlet with seal beneath it to sandwich and seal two halves of pump. |

Scotr As you have it in the picture. Filter in the recess. Rubber now goes on top. Alan |

Alan , should the o ring just sit in the recess or overlap so it's squashed inbetween the body and the top ? |
Scott Coe |
Sorry Scott, Alan actual knowledge proves where assuming make an ass out of me, again. And why to take photos at each stage of dismantling (always assuming things where installed correctly before of course!). |

Scott It sits in the cover and on both the filter and the body thus it fulfils two functions holding the filter in place and sealing between body and cover. leaks oft times occurred around the fixing bolt / screw so ensure you have a good fibre washer under the bolt / screw head and on top of the cover. A snigger of Blue Hylomar helps and can be applied to the rubber seal for 'belt & braces'. Don't over tighten the nut / screw. Alan |

Thanks Alan, much appreciated, Happy MGing ! |
