Yess it can. You may loose a drop but if you are carefull you will find the pistons with spring not all the way out so some of the seal will hold. If not you can hold them in with your fingers while slipping a new gasket in. Bas 63 too |

hey ,Bas ,thanks man .You would know. I've read plenty of your replies over the years ,always insightful .You know I did every thing on a complete brake rebuild, but I should have used a sealant on that rascally gasket. Thanks again , Mario |

Mario, I fear that if you should have used sealer on that rascally gasket, you have possibly got a deeper problem.... IF fluid is getting that far, then I suspect the seals or bores of the M/Cyl are not holding out, this would be drastic if you were in a hard breaking situation and it failed compleatly...! Probably a good idea to investigate further... Mark. |

Mario, You're welcome. But as Mark said be carefull. The front cap with seal doesnt do much apart from keeping dust out. If fluid wants to leak that way I suspect the seals of the pistons. They can be changed also without removing the whole lot but after that you should bleed the lines again. And with DOT 3 or 4 your paintwork isnt going to like that. I use silicone fluid and did the sealchange with the master in situ. When you replace the seals check the bores. If pitted normally they should be bored and sleeved but these days the Masters are newly build. They are cheaper then the 2 masters of the later midgets now. Bas |
