MG Midget and Sprite Technical - 7/8 pushrods sought
Anyone willing to part with a pair of pushrods for a 7/8" bore dual master? I swapped in a 7/8" in place of my trashed 3/4" and find myself in need of the proper pushrods. They are 4 3/16" long (compared to the 3 3/4" or so rods from a 3/4" bore MC). I think I can order some from Moss but I'm so sick of paying the long dollar and shipping on little bits like this I thought I'd beg here first. |

Could I make some from either threaded rod or a long shoulder bolt with the head cut off and the nub rounded off? Would these be strong enough to not bend and flex and risk my life? |

Hi J Use a long bolt and shape the head to fit in the piston. gary |

I stopped by University Motors and they let me grub around in their stash. I came up with two that are longer. Interestingly John Twist was highly skeptical that there were indeed different length pushrods. Not sure he believed me even when I found what I wanted, had my old one in hand and there ya go. Had to pay $11 for two grimy old pushrods but the patina on them will match nicely. So, hope to fit tonight and see where I'm at. BTW, in anticipation of more "response" from the clutch slave when using the 7/8" bore MC, I went ahead and removed the nut that I put behind the slave pushrod last year. Wish me luck. PS sorry for dual posts as my master cylinder thread got this same one..... |

J, Do you still have the 3/4" pushrods? If so, can I buythem from, you? Adrian |

Someone posted a link to this most interesting site recently, I think it's well worth looking at...! http://www.brakecylinder.com/spridgetbrakes.htm Mark. |
