MG Midget and Sprite Technical - A Series-Type9 measurements needed.

Just an add on to my other thread regarding 1275 measurements. I need the dimension (A), shown in the sketch below for a type 9 to A series bellhousing.
I've managed to scrounge the use of a minor gearbox to check the clearance of the flywheel in the bell housing, just need to get a position for the spigot bearing, assuming the clearance is OK I should be able to work out a clutch release mechanism!
In case you're wondering and you've not read my previous post I'm working on fitting a modified maestro engine in the frog.

Might be worth joining and posting on the Marlin Owners Club forum under the Roadster section for O Series info. There have been some Marlin Roadsters fitted with O Series engines and Ford type 9 gearboxes, as well as Marina 1275 engine and gearbox (as well as Triumph sixes, MGB B Series engine, Ford Sierra Pinto and Mk9, Rover V8, Fiat twincam)

Cheers

Mike, I'm fitting an A series 1300 engine so can't really see the relevance? But maybe posting on a Marina or minor board would be a good way to get extra eyes and rulers on the scheme,
Graham.

Mike, I don't know what happened there! That reply should have been changed completely with an edit after I reread your comment.
What I intended to say was that I needed a either a meticulous recorder of data who has done the job, someone who is in the process of an engine out and has fitted a type 9 previously or who is in the process of fitting one. So the Minor or Marina boards would be the best place to look for extra eyes and rulers.

No problem, I'd assumed you were going for an O Series, forgetting that there were A Series 1.3 Maestros.

Yes, Minor and Marina clubs probably more useful.

Good luck.

I am intrigued to see how much hassle this is compared to fitting a Ford type 9 gearbox to a midget A Series. The funny thing now is that probably Midget 1.3 engines are probably easier to source compared to Maestro or Marina engines - which may be a shame if such a conversion offers advantages.

Best wishes
