MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Aldi bargain
Aldi are selling an electric hoist for £50 on Thursday 29th. Might make midget engine changes easier for some. It would probably bring my garage roof down onto the car though. Especially if I left that earth strap on the bellhousing! |

another bargain Lidl are selling halogen H4 bulb packs for 99pence in a bubble pack with a stop/tail 5/21W an indicator 21W a five watt sidelamp bulb and a totally useless to me low wattage festoon bulb, plus two plastic blade fuses They may not be of the very finest quality but as spares for Continental travel (legal requirements in France)a couple of those will do nicely in Lara's boot (they MAY be of the VERY FINEST quality, I am no judge) |

99p for a set of bulbs! No wonder the UK manufacturing industry is down the sh1thole as those must be made abroad. |

One of the presenters of Masterchef did a programme last night comparing ALdi and Lidl with big name supermarkets like tesco and in the majority of cases, there was little or no discernable difference in quality. (talking about food). The average shopper could save in excess of £30 shopping at aldi. Small wonder all the packaging in my food cupboards is in German ;-) |

I am slightly obssessed with the specials in both Aldi and Lidl. I wonder in every couple of months and find I walk out with all sorts of "stuff" I wasnt sure I needed. Tools in particular seem fine for the occasional/DIY type use I want. I've made a lot of use of the air ratchet thats for sure (i'm getting lazy!) So far that has't extended to the food but after watching last night we might experiment.... |

We now shop for our foods at Aldi and Lidl when visiting in Ireland and it saves us many euros in comparison to the Tesco or other local markets and it is just as tasty. I wish the shipping wasn't so expensive, that hoist does sound like a bargain. |

Picked up a 20L steel jerry can in Aldi last night for £10.79. Bargainous. |

We get what we can by way of food at Lidl. In fact we are having one of their ready-made lasagne's today. They are far tastier than Tesco Finest ones! And a lot cheaper too! |

But sadly Lidl cant cut it in the vegetable scene for me, they seem to need a decent informed veg buyer. But I often buy meat there, £2.99 for frying steak that at Tesco around the corner would be a heck of a lot closer to £4 or more. Their Pinot Grigio is rather good too, my own personal tester advises me And they and Aldi will always have an avid centre lane rummager in me, my Aldi air ratchet is getting better with use... |

We still buy our meat and most of our veg from our local butcher/farm shop. Its no more expensive than sainsburys you get exactly what and how much you want, there's no needless packaging we're supporting a small local business and the quality of the meat is fabulous! Maybe we're lucky that we can shop there but I'm a bit fed up with the big supermarkets squeezing their suppliers to the bone and I'd rather pay more for quality if I'm putting it in my stomach! Having said that might start going to Lidl and Aldi for the tins and washing powder if its that much cheaper! |

Time to buy shares in Aldi, methinks! |

Local Aldi veg here very good. One isle has drums, guitars, keybaords and *trumpets*! A strange shopping experience... A |

Try Carefore in France. Live lobsters and two wheel car trailers in adjoining isles. Now that's diverse |

Ah well, Aldi veg are very good and I do buy there if I'm near there. It's only Lidl locally that aint up to it I dont know who sources stuff for these stores, but generally the local produce is darned good And Lidl have an amazing selection of frozen sea food, umpteen sorts of lobsters and langoustines etcetera But Carrefour? Gary and Toby and I have spent hours amazed at their variety in the Le Mans store. A website I also attend has one guy whose sig is "Carrefour will provide!" and it is true. Amazing shops... |

I visited a large cheese factory recently - 10,000 tons per week - which shall remain nameless. They produce cheese for most of the supermarkets, including Lidl and Aldi. |

Very big fan of the french supermarkets; the range of stuff is excellent and it makes going camping in France a breeze! Over here my veg is from Able and Cole and I use a local butcher where i can - better meat as it comes straight from the farm! The one thing I miss is a decent fishmonger - I need to go back into London to get to one... |
