MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Alternator bracket - 1500
My alternator bracket snapped in two last night (I assume it was last night, not sure how long it takes to drain the battery once the alternator is not spinning).
Has anyone used a replacement from another vehicle (ie from the wreckers) or a universal bracket that fits?
Gday Steve Can you weld? If so just weld it back together.
BTW Where in vic are you Steve?

Never tried welding and don't have the equipment, nor know someone with a welder.
I'm in Upwey Rod, right over the other side of town.
Useful info in this thread:
It looks like a part shared with Triumoh Spitfire MkIV:
http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-156464 (note Triumph part number. It is possible there would be a different MG part number for the same part - not sure if British Leyland group had rationalised part numbers)
Thanks Mike. Moss list the same part number for both Midget and Spitfire, although Rimmer are much cheaper.
I was hoping to source something locally however I will order from Rimmer if not.
You are welcome
You could try Quiller Triumph for second hand spares:
Or Andy Jennings mg spares.
Also was it the adjuster bracket, or the cast bottom one?
http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-GRID005798 (suppliers like Canley Classics make a new stronger version of the bottom one).
Steve try Spriteparts in Sydney http://spriteparts.com.au/
R W Bowers
It is the top, adjusting bracket.
I've ordered from Rimmer Bros. Thanks for the suggestion of spriteparts Rod; probably should have called today however now afterhours, so I just want it ordered and on the way.
