MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Bolt size and thread for air filter
Hi all, anyone know the size and thread of the bolts that hold the air filter on please? Putting K&Ns on and of course the stock bolts are too long! It's a 1500. |

On the 1275 hs2 carbs... I ((think)) they are 5/16 x 24 tpi, I used them in 1/2 inch long just to attach the backplate of the filter housing to the front of the carb face I think the same would be true for the 1500 but cant say as a fact Prop |

think they are UNC threads as it's into ally carb body. |

Ah ok, thanks, what a palaver :) I've used the original bolts and put some spacers in which seems to have done the trick but I'll find some correct bolts based on that info, 10mm length will do it. Onto the exhaust then! |

Angle grinder and mole grips can shorten the bolts... just add a nut before you cut them off that way you can recut the threads by simply removing the nut after the bolt is cut off/ground off Prop |

I often install thread inserts to tighten everything back up. |

prop Do you use the angle grinder to cut the thread? ;o) |

Dave, Not intentionally ... but I have They make cutt off wheels for the 4.5 inch angle grinders I use to cut off long bolts Prop |
