MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Bonnet stay on GRP

As the title suggests, how to fix a bonnet stay latch on a GRP/fibreglass bonnet. I do not want to drill into it, so thinking of some sort of fibreglass repair kit to hold a latch into place for the stay at the just over centre position.

Other thoughts were simply glueing it into place - but it needs to have a large foot to the bonnet - akin to those things used in partition walls, large disc at one end, threaded at other......I can then attach something to this for the bonnet end of the saty....
Oggers

Oggers,

Often referred to as big head screws, a number of places sell them such as composite suppliers. A quick search found this lot http://www.easycomposites.co.uk/#!/tools-equipment-and-supplies/bighead-bonding-fasteners . I've used this lot before http://www.ecfibreglasssupplies.co.uk/category/inserts-and-fasteners .
David Billington

As Dave says, big head or similar fastening that spreads the load out so as not to cause stress cracks. I have an old GRP front end, the stay mount for that is a padlock hasp held with cross strips of GRP tape + resin about 30 years ago.

Tiger Seal is also pretty good at sticking stuff on to GRP (e.g. headlights in my Elise), I'm just re-doing my front hinge arrangement with it.
