MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Bugeye fan size

I am just refitting the radiator after installing my rebuilt engine, and find that fan blades are to big for the shroud on the radiator.the blade came froma Morris minor and measures 12 inch in diameter.I would have thought the the fans would be the same. Can anyone confirm the correct diameter?

According to the Moss online catalogue, the MM uses the same fan as the early Spridget - AEA301.

Don't know the size, sorry.

Noel. As Dave says, the part number for the mk1 Sprite fan is AEA301 and it went all the way through to the mk3 Sprite.
Some rads have just a top shroud without sides and others have sides. Which is yours?
My fan which is original is off at the moment, so I'll measure it tomorrow and let you know, if someone doesn't do it today for you.

I recall getting what I assumed was a Morris fan in a pile of bits once - the blades were about 1" longer than my midget fan blades and would have fouled the rad shroud so I chucked em'...

Noel. As promised, I have measured my fan which is the part number mentioned above and is the original fan fitted to my car new. It is exactly 10 inches long. It looks as though you have a rogue fan. Hope this helps.

Bernie,
Thanks for that, It would appear that MM fans are in fact bigger.(I have measured another at 12inches )I have chopped mine down to fit. It is interesting that Moss list the same part number for Sprite and MM,I guess that a 10 inch would fit a MM ok .I would be interested to know the size of #AEA301.

Noel. Moss list AEA301 as the fan for both early Sprites and Midgets and also the Morris Minor. I can guarantee that this is the fan fitted to my car from new, but maybe the original M.M. fan is no longer available so they use the AEA301 as an alternative and what you have is an original M.M. fan on your Sprite.
