MG Midget and Sprite Technical - calibrating tach on the bench
has anyone come up with a method of calibrating an elec tach on the work bench? Perhaps using the 60 cycle signal from a auto battery charger if it indeed sends out a pulsing 60 cycle DC signal. Can a simple signal generator be made? Years ago I built a Heathkit dwell/tach and calibated it using 60 cycle house current. Any thoughts out there? Bob C in Kansas |

I use a battery charger and a headlight bulb as load. Do you have a current or volt type tach? A |

I have an RVI type which I believe is a voltage type.Did it read 1800 and if so would that mean it was only accurate at that RPM or throughout the whole scale? Bob C |
