MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Choke cable on 1500

Hello,

I've a Mk4 1500 and I need to reattached the choke cable - however the clip is no longer present. All the midget sites seen to mention a pin, but I seem to recall I never had a pin clip and I'm sure there was a metal cover and a bolt.

Can someone post a pic of how the choke cable attaches to the carb in a 1500, it would be much appreciated?

Many thanks

Hi Mat,

I dont have the car here at the moment, but I will more than happily take a pic of the carb/choke linkage for you on friday.

I assume you are still using the twin SUs?

Email me with your email address and I will email the pic so you can expand it to get a nice clear picture.

I ahd my carbs fully rebuilt last year by an ex-SU technician, so I would guess he has put them back to 'out of the factory' standard.

I don't have a photo to hand but this may help:

Item 82

Its not too clear on the website, but is is a tube with a thread on the inside and a small bolt that screws into the tube. The choke cable passes through a hole at right angles and the cable is secured by the bolt. The tube passes through the choke bracket and the cable is passed through it afterwards, and the bolt then tightened.

Hope this makes sense, the photo will clear up any confusion.
