MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Clutch Diameter
My 1965 midget with 1098cc clutch is sliping. before I remove the engine I would like to order the kit. Haynes manual says the 1098 has a 7.25" drive plate and the bigger engine 1275 has a smaller 6.5" drive plate. confused is this correct. Mike |

Mike, that is correct. The 1098 has coil springs and the 1275 is a diaphragm spring, giving a higher clamping force. The 1275 clutch is also lighter, as is the flywheel. |
