MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Control Box Wiring Help

Hi Folks:
I am building a Spridget based replica single-seat racer (see photo) and need some assistance. I have used the archives to solve lots of build problems and thank you all for the extensive help that they have given. However I can not find an answer to my latest problem . . .
Since I have no existing wiring harness I am not sure how to hook up the Dynamo to the Control box. The wiring diagram shows wires from control box terminal D and F going to the dynamo but does not indicate which dynamo terminal each of them goes to.
Also what is the wire gauge for each of the wires to the control box terminals?

Any help gratefully appreciated

So your converting an MG midget, into a circle Dirt track midget sprint racecar.....NOW thats what I call maintaining the defination of the word "Midget"...Are you going to have a midget (small person) drive it also...LOL

Answering your question is going to be a bit tough, as there where varoius wiring scamantics over the years,,,,the control box is really just a alt. mechanical regulator....Im guessing the wiring is modified way outside of standard

To make it much easier. buy a single wire GM Alt with a built in electronic regulator...you just run the single wire to the selonoid...or even the battry (IIRC)...and you can get a replacement GM Alt from any auto parts store...even in Tunas Iowa

AT THE Control box most likly you can connect the three brown wires togather...1 large, and 2 small (I think..maybe the other way around)...but wait till someone else can back me up or dis-credit me.

Can you supply more info....the age and type of midget that you started with.

I know its hard to get the info, Haynes misses pictures of the dynamo end cap completely

the setup is a bit like the drawing attached

the D terminal is set on an insulated block and is larger than the F terminal

I cant help more than that 'cos I no longer run a dynamo

I'm sure there may be more help when the others notice the thread, but I think you can get going with this picture

Bill

On the dynamo, the smaller terminal is "F" (field)
The larger terminal is "D" (dynamo) and they go to the same letters on the control box.
A and A1 on the box are direct from the battery. E is earth.

Hey THANKS Guys . . .
I got an old harness and between that and your help I think I have it right.

and PROP: No midget to drive as the car is built to fit me. . .I just might need a sky hook to get out :-)

I have used all vintage parts and hope to enter it in autocross solo events. Not sure if I will be able to give the cars from the other side of the Pacific a run for thier money or not but it should be fun to show them what it was like back in the day.
