MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Coolant Hose
Just started my 1275 midget ready for MOT next week. After a few minutes I saw steam coming from under the bonnet. I discovered a 5 year old Kevlar reinforced hose had split, and the rest looked ready to join in. I think I remember some discussion here on silicon hoses, are they an option and where can I get them from please. Colin |

Yes... I think danial stapleton was having a special run made a year ago The normal suspects should have something to sell Prop |

I think these are the ones that Nigel recommends http://www.classicsiliconehoses.com/ |

Thanks for fast responses, but a bit expensive at the moment. Think I will order some "normal" ones but keep a close check on a yearly basis. Colin |

I don't know whether it would be worth trying your local Unipart or Partco to see if they can get standard hoses. |

Colin, the ones I recommend and have fitted are the ones Dave gave a link to, not cheap but not that expensive compared to other silicone hoses and less hassle and expense than HGF and head skim, tow home, ect. I think you should consider that you done well with the Kevlar lasting 5 years last time I got an ordinary rubber top hose it lasted 9 months before it was crazed, who knows it might have lasted another 4 years+ but I didn't want to chance it let us know how long they last as who knows finally the supply of rubber parts might be back to those that last longer than days, weeks or months |

My silicone hoses are made by Samco, with a colour of your choice (blue, black, sometimes green, purple or orange). I can have as few as a single hose made but sometimes there's a bit of wait (I'm a small customer). My prices will be a lot cheaper than anyone else as the original pricing was to break even rather than make a profit. E-mail me if you want a price on a single hose (I don't have any for the 1500 Midget). |

I replaced all my hoses with silicone ones from Classic Silicone Hoses and I'm more than satisfied with them. I got some extra heater hose from them for my breather hoses and although not cheap, I'm confident they will last longer than the crap rubber hoses currently on the market. Bernie. |

I've got a set from a different supplier, marked "Reinforced" and "Made in England" with no mention of Kevlar, rather reluctantly but on present costs. Maybe these will last longer? I will keep a close eye on them and may come back to you Daniel for a quote on Silicon as I would prefer them in the longer term. Colin |

Colin Have tried offering danial live chickens as payment, all he could say is no. Give it a try and let us know what danial says Thanks Prop |

Colin, if you get silicone in future have a couple of spare inches of 1/2" hose (or off cut from hose set) to use to replace the head bypass hose |
