MG Midget and Sprite Technical - curious about the aldon yellow distributor
I have a leyland special tuning sheet for the midget and it lists part number 100AYV as spec for stage 2 along with some head work and a hotter cam. Anyone use this distributor? Is it worth it? |

I needed an Aldon AY100V dissy with slower advance for my 1293 with 10.3:1 CR and 276 cam. Before I fitted this dissy, I could not eliminate detonation around 2-3krpm without considerably retarding the static timing, which affected performance in the higher rev-band. I had the car on a rolling road several times; they did the 'swinging dissy' trick to find the mean-best torque timing setting and we found a good compromise for static setting that was only a couple of degrees out max for WOT across the rev range (which is about as good as it gets).
