MG Midget and Sprite Technical - engine colour

we were rebuilding a healey 100/6 engine this week , and had some engine paint left, so i painted the engine for my lenham gt with it. im sure the purists wont like it, but i do (in real it looks even better then in the pictures)

nice engine

I'm like you, I like the colour too

Lighter colours on engines are always best for British cars - You can easily see where the oil leaks are!

Hi Angelo,
It looks great in that colour. Are you using a timing chain cover without an oil separator? Also to my mind, the rocker cover looks the wrong way round in the first image but the correct way on the image of the engine without the ancillaries (but that's just the way round that it is on my car). I suppose it really makes no difference.

Angelo,

Looks correct to me, this colour is the same as on our 1275 MK-III midget from the factory.

Timing cover is correct for a 1098 engine.

awe, I agree, it does look like hammerite, but it lasts well too. You could always have used hammerite smooth. :)

I do agree though, the colour you've used, looks the bees knees.
Lawrence Slater

i will send you a picture peter when its in the car
