MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Extreme solution for breathing issues?
My reaction was 'what were they thinking?' https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1275cc-Engine-MG-AUSTIN/223305473374 |

That is the strangest setup I've ever seen. Wouldn't the hoses that come out of the pan suck up oil? |
Martin |
Rare would cover it-- On the hoses to the pan question, it would depend on what's happening inside- the best breather/catch can return setup is direct back to the pan, BUT it needs to return below oil level--This stops fumes and condensation puffing back up the pipe and the residue oil from the catch can can run straight back to the pan without the puffing from the crankcase suspending it up in the pipe willy |

Willy, All of those tubes confused me. I thought one of them went to the intake manifold. Blame it on the quarter cup of bubbly I had last night. Either way, it's a monstrosity. |

If you squint your eyes and imagine a bit ,it looks a bit like the Titanic-------------lol no it doesn't willy |

Is it some sort of dry sump lubrication system? |

It's amazing what some red paint will do! I bet it had one of those 'unleaded conversions' in the petrol tank as well! |

"Would make ideal upgrade for MG midget" I don't think I would be able to shut my bonnet with that in it!! |

Have Lawrence and Prop got a mutual very distant cousin living in Scotland? (Neither, however, would have approved of the paint splatter on the block surface) I wonder how Lawrence's oil sucking experiments are going? (Cue very long thread revival...) Cheers Mike |
