MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Filter King installation

Hi

Anyone installed a Malpassi Filter King fuel filter (glass bowl with replaceable paper element) and fuel pressure regulator https://www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk/p/malpassi-filter-king-regulator-small-67mm-with-glass-bowl-fpr004 on a Spridget and got some pictures of their neat installation please? The inner wing (wheel arch) vertical panel looks an option.

Currently running an SU points fuel pump in the engine compartment(replacing a mechanical fuel pump due to LCB exhaust manifold) with a plastic inline filter before just before the pump which works fine, just thinking of likely future switch to rear mounted electric pump in some alternate and later universe where the car is finished, upgraded engine popped in and a bit of competition beckons. And did SU ever make a fuel pump that is designed to mostly pull or just my previous owner’s pump set-up works even though SU pumps tend to be by tanks to work to push fuel some distance to the engine and after the initial pull from the tank.

Test message to Nigel to see if he is still watching. If so, I know should stick to standard and getting everything working fine before modifying and I know Hardi pumps are lovely!

Cheers
Mike

I believe the Morris Minor one 'pulls' as its mounted near the front bulkhead in the engine bay. That said a push pump may be better as there is less risk of cavitation due to heat.Important if you are intending to press on in the future. I had a front mounted pump and suffered vapour lock. All the problems went when I fitted the pump in the rear.
I use a Facet silver top pump which has provided sterling (sic) service for a number of years.(its good for engines up to 150 bhp!) It also has a filter screen to help remove some crud. The fuel line comes up just by the N/S shock absorber and is clipped to one of the engine mounting bracket set screws. The line then runs to a fuel pressure reducer mounted on the inner wing. The Facet pumps at around 5 psi but SU's prefer around 2 psi.
The Malpassi would be fine on the inner wheel arch as you suggest

Got my filter king mounted on the bulkhead to the left of the bonnet hinge on the passenger side if that makes sense . Copper fuel line through the car and into boot space with a contactless SU pump in the boot on the inner wheel arch . All works well.

Mike,
IIRC I asked about one for my B roadster V8 conversion with well oversized Holley carb but was told it wasn't needed. That car did have a dual SU pump that let me down and caused me to book an unwanted leave-day.

My midget had a QH labelled pump but it looked every bit a Hardi.

A rear mounted Hardi at 2 psi I'd have thought would have been fine for all but really serious competition and modifications (the racers here would know better) and it wouldn't need a regulator anyway.
