MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Frog oil filetr bowl ?
Guys I am just giving my new to me 59 Frog an oil change, and the first thing that I see is that some parts are missing internally from the filter bowl, when I grab my Moss cataloque it would appear from the diagram that there are two types of set up ; Tecalamit or Purolator, if the drawing is to be believed I have a mix of parts ! Mine is a long bolt with integral large washer, the bowl itself has something like a large cup washer welded to the bottom of it,a smooth curved bottom surface,(with no angled depressions/gooves) these are all Tecalamit parts BUT my filter support casting is a long type which appears to be Purolater type. Do I have a mix parts (very possible on a 49 yr old car) or is the diagram in Moss incorrect, and is there some more definitive information somewhere ? Any ideas ? Lastly where does retaining clip locate, as there is no groove in the bolt for it (this is one of the parts missing, along with various washers and the correct pressure plate !!) Thanks Ian |
