MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Frogeye dash finisher

After a little bit of advice please, I am building Lenham and have used a Frogeye dash instead of the later midget type.

I would like to replace the dash crash protector with a solid aluminium one if possible.

I picked up some side screens a while ago from a member in Suffolk and I've convinced myself that I saw the Frogeye aluminium dash finisher on a midget.

If I didn't see that do you know if it is indeed possible to fit the Frogeye item.

Not worried if it needs modification

Isn't the standard Midget item aluminium with some foam and vinyl stuck to it?

Hi Dave, it is but it is very thin and designed to have a sponge and then a vinyl covering, whilst I think the frogeye was more of a solid aluminium rail.

I think, but I'm not sure, that the early square body Sprite/Midgets had the thick aluminum cockpit surrounds. It may have been covered in vinyl, but not with thick foam. Also, the aluminum is nice enough to take well to being polished. I have it on my 65 but I took it off a 62. It's not here or I could go verify it.

Hi Charley, yes thats how I think the Frogeye on is, I have the equipment to highly polish it if it will fit.

I know the door cappings are different but I'm hoping the dash will fit, so any info or pictures would be great.

The dash finisher on a frog is a strip of ally which is covered in vinyl to match the vinyl dash. its covered in vinyl to reduce glare. The other areas of cockpit trim are polished ally. The standard Frog item may not fit as the scuttle curves round to meet the top of the doors and is different to the later spridget with wind up windows. The frog dash (in a frog) sits under the scuttle rather than in front of it as shown in the photo.
