MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Frogeye pedal box actuating rods
I am upgrading my Frogeye to 3/4" master cylinder for use with disc brakes - I am aware that the pedal box actuating rods are different and are either 99 mm o/a or 105 mm o/a - Which length should I use with the 3/4" setup ? |
John M Platt |
The shorter one is for disc braked 3/4 bore. Sizes / pressure / lengths & explanations were all covered in Mascot issues Jan / Feb 2008. Shame on you! |
Alan Anstead |
Why changing the master? If its in good nick the 7/8 master will do for diskbraked cars. Just remove the brake pressure valve. Bas |
Bas Timmermans |
Agree with Alan, it was all in Mascot. But you're right Bas, the original master cylinder works, but the pedal feels a bit dead and needs a big leg to stop quickly! Andy Cross, Early Mk2 Sprite, with added discs and big legs. |

Alan how the heck do you think John would have time to READ Mascot? He told me yesterday he knew it was in there somewhere just wasn't certain where to find it maybe we need an index again! (job for new committee member perhaps) Bill, MASCOT is the club magazine for the members of the midget And Sprite Club http://www.mgcars.org.uk/midgetspriteclub/ Everyone else sorry for plugging but Bill DID ask... |

Where are you getting a 3/4" master cylinder, John? |
Nick |
John quick thread revive time I found the old original pushrod that used to be in my clutch cylinder (OK, could have been brake cylinder too) It was 95mm long (but had a turning "pip" on the threaded end that took it out another 1mm) So not quite 99mm but within range for a ceegar I suspect HTH |
