MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Frogeye rear brake cylinders
The rear cylinders on a Frogeye are single acting 7/8" bore. The later 1098cc Morris Minor are single acting 3/4" bore. Is there any advantage to using the smaller bore type if using discs on the front to reduce brake bias to the rear?? |

Bob When fitting discs to a Frogeye and changing to 3/4 inch bore master cylinder the norm is to fit 3/4 in rear brake cylinders to avoid what some call 'a pedal like porridge'. The cylinders to use are Morris Minor 1962 - Lockheed part no LW11287 repair kit LK11553 Alan Masckent.org |

Thanks Alan, I was having a sort out in the garage and came across two pairs of new cylinders, one set is 7/8 and the other is 3/4. Its got 7/8 fitted at present. I have noticed that the rear wheels tend to lock up first if braking really hard and wondered if 3/4 bore would give a better balance. I have got a 3/4 master and the pedal pressure seems ok (or I have just got used to it!!) |
