MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Front Brake Backplate Removal
| Hello I need to replace the front brake backplate on my 1500 MG midget after a sad incident when the brake caliper bolt fell out and then moved and mangled the plate. Does anyone know how much of a stripdown I have to perform to get to it? Do I have to remove the brake disk and then the stub axel? I have had a quick look at it this afternoon and tried to free it off bu removing the brake caliper in the hope it might just come out but it didn't. Any help would be greatly received! | I think that the calliper, disc etc will need to come off as there is a small bolt directly behind the disc which holds the back plate to the stub axle assembley. Kevin |

| the 'backplate' is actually just a splash shield and is not really necessary - almost all racers run without them - so for a quick job to keep it running I would just bend it roughly back into shape, or if well mangled then simply cut it away with tinsnips. |
