MG Midget and Sprite Technical - front spring length
Can anybody tell me where to find the front suspension spring free lengths and rates for each generation of midget. The 1500's seem to be about 10" (Google). I've got some earlier 64 - 74 springs which I thought would be shorter but they also seem to be 10". I'm trying to lower a 1500 that has now got a fibreglass front end and was hoping to replace the 1500 springs with the 64 - 74 ones. |

Andrew, The standard springs for my '70 Midget are 10" . I lowered my car by buying some uprated springs from Leacy MG 0121 356 3003 for £27.50 a pair back in 2003 ! Their part number was MST300. They will be able to tell you the actual difference in height. Now I scrub the tyres on hard cornering. Had to get rear lowering blocks to bring the car back level.(Got those from MGOC) |

Thanks Geoff - It looks like it will be easiest for now to fit my earlier springs and see how it looks. The back already has 1275 springs and sits nicely so I'm hoping the front will drop a little bit to level things out. I'll get in touch with Leacy MG if it still sits too high. |
