MG Midget and Sprite Technical - front wing replacement

Your help is much appreciated.
Will a wing for a 1969 sprite fit a 1972 midget RWA?

There is one on Ebay that is up for grabs

Not sure when the sidelight position changed so I would think not, however the one in your link is a 1500 midget and will definately not be right. See the sidelight opening.

Late '69 through '74(until rubber bumpers) had the lower sidelight.

Most '69 had the higher sidelight.

Dave if your car has deep chrome bumpers it will need the early high position side light plinth
if the car has the slimmer bumper it needs the lower position

Dave, your 73 will have the slim bumpers therefore the lower sidelight aperture. If you are passing through Berkshire or going to Stoneleigh spares day, drop me a mail as I've a good offside wing from a '73 car.

Its not just the sidelight that changed with the 1500, they "lowered" the wheel arch as well to make the now higher car "look" lower. I've welded a 1275 sidelight in to a 1500 wing before. Once on the car it took me a while to realise why one side looked higher than the other.

I ended up doing this:
(then moved the lip)

IIRC, Mr Horler states that the sidelight position was lowered BEFORE the advent of slim bumpers.

Good grief I was unaware, as a newbie to the midget, how flippin' hard it is to keep up with what goes with what.
So much for buying a small car cos it will be easy to fix cos theres less to change!!!!!!!!LOL
