MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Frozen propshaft sliding sleeve
Title pretty much says it, I have a 78 midget. Pretty sure the propshaft has never been out, from U-joints were absolutely destroyed so while it was out I was gonna pull the sliding yolk out, clean it up real nice and all that. I've gotten it out, tried putting grease into it and it all just came out the front, I haven't tried anything with it besides trying to pull it out by hand.
The only real idea I have right now is using a come-along/power puller and anchoring it between two trees (one end to the tree one end to the come-along) and just trying that and using penetrating oil/some heat from propane torch, no acetylene, and just tapping on it with a mallet (dead blow, not sledge) while applying pressure through the puller. Anyone have any other ideas or experience? |

Dunno if it is like the mob one - has a threaded collar that needs unscrewing before you can pull them apart - need to Mark them first so you can put it together right after |
