MG Midget and Sprite Technical - fuel gauge readin low

dear all,

i have been have a repetitive issue with the fuel gauge readings on my midget 1500 in that when filled up with fuel it only gives a reading if 3/4 full, to try to remedy this i have replaced the sender and gauge but with no change in the net result..does anyone have a clue where i can look at next?

regards

You can adjust the Empty and Full gauge needle position by calibrating your gauge to your car. You need to first make sure your wiring to the gauge and from gauge to sender is ok (no bad connections etc) or you are only masking another problem.

Gauge adjustment is done using a small flat bladed screwdriver in the 2 slots on the rear of the gauge. It is a bit trial and error but the discrepancy you are talking about can easily be corrected for.

Details of Smiths fuel gauge adjusting can be found here
