MG Midget and Sprite Technical - FWB - alternative parts source?
Hi Can anyone confirm that some 1980s Honda motorcycles use the same wheel bearing kits as the front wheel bearings on disc braked midgets and Sprites? My reason for asking is when searching for AP Lockhead new old stock WBK105 bearing kits I came across this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Radlager-Set-komplett-mit-Simmerringen-WBK-105-HONDA-XL-250-XR-600-/350924577625 I suppose it depends whether the Honda applications require face adjusted wheel bearings with the radius that suits Spridgets on the inner bearing. If not, I would expect any Honda original parts not to be suitable, but I wonder if any parts suppliers in the UK have any old stock WBK105 that fit Midgets (and not the modern Frontline version). And I guess even if the Honda genuine part fits (and more likely to be made in Japan, so not RHP) I would guess they would be as hard to track down! I know all the above is too much hoping and supposition. Cheers Mike |

Looks like the Honda part numbers for these bearings may be: 96140-6203010 (inner bearing?) 96140-6204010 (outer bearing?) 91216-729-921 (oil seal) |

I think the wbk105 in the ad is a mistake. Those bearings are deep groove, not angular contacts. http://www.google.co.uk/#q=6203-2RS https://www.google.co.uk/#q=6204-2RS |

Thanks Lawrence It seemed to good to be true! Cheers Mike |

I'm no trained engineer but I can't see that one would use a car hub bearing design for a m/cycle where there's no sideways loading at all? |
