MG Midget and Sprite Technical - gaskets?
Hello Folks Now that I have found that it is my gasket for the air intake that is leaking I have a new one on it's way. I was wondering if there is some kind of sealent to add to the gasket so I won't have another leak. (new only 100 miles ago) Thanks all Jason 1971 MG midget |

Usually a leak is caused by an uneven surface. Spend a lot of time cleaning the old gasket off. Use some emery paper on a flat plane of glass to check that your intake manifold is flat and true. Then be sure and torque the nuts in the proper order (basically inside to out). And retorque after a few heating/cooling cycles. Do you have locating rings in your intake/head? |

have you modified anything on the intake or exhauste, as trevor points out >>>>>>>>>Usually a leak is caused by an uneven surface<<<<<<< many times a new exhauste header or intake manifold flange will be thicker or skinner thus resulting in a "uneven surface" if this is the case you will need to make some step washers...to fill and even out the dispartage. prop |
