MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Gaskets with the heat sheild?
I am installing 1.5 SU's on my American '77 midget. The heat shield I bought has copper rings in the center. The Moss catalog shows that after mid '77 the gaskets were dropped. Do I have the heat shield that is without gaskets? |

I assume this is a 1500 lump and therefore, to use 1.5 SU's you are using an aftermarket custom manifold? You might have to fab up a heat shield. Unless you mean 1 1/4" SU's which have the vertical mounting studs............ Inquiring minds............??? |

1500's had 2x 1 1/2" HS4 SUs as stock (unless they were USA emissions motors). Bruce, I always use gaskets both sides of the heat shield whether late or early. |

Bruce, If you omit the gaskets and they SHOULD be there, you will have nothing but grief trying to get the mixture right. If you install the gaskets and they were NOT needed, what is the downside? I would use the gaskets. David "vacuum leaks are NOT your friends" Lieb |

How did I double post this? Thanks guys, I added the gaskets. I was too focused on the copper ring. |
