MG Midget and Sprite Technical - GEARBOX REAR BUSHES
i have just acquiired a 1500 midget which is now after putting a new clutch in running well apart froma horrendous noise from the gearbox sound like an exhaust knock. didnt do it on tickover , except when i pushed down on the gearnob, checked underneath and the bobbin type bushes are gone and the gearbox is resting on the support... now do i have to spend a fortune hiring an engine hoist , loosing all my antifreeze. etc for £5 rubber bushes??? or can it be done in situe in any way??? i take it the top where they fasten to the gearbox they just screw in as i cannot see a nut or are they a push fit??? i am considering cutting a hole in the mount to access the nuts from the outside ...any thoughts ? |
