MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Hardtop with Tifosi Rana?

Hi,

I have contacted Tifosi directly but have had no response.

Basically if the rear Tifosi bodywork is fitted to a later (70's) spec car does the normal hardtop still fit? (i.e. it retains the same horizontal swages around the body as the std car)

The only photos I have seen of a Tifosi either have no hood / hardtop or on the official website there seems to be a soft top which looks like neither the early or the later hood?

I am specifically asking about the version of the Tifosi Rana which retains wind up windows (not the 'authentique')

Cheers

Hi Spencer
I have spoke to them about this and was told you have to have a modified hard top that they supply if you have a frog rear end and midget windscreen, but if you have a frog windscreen then you can fit a standard frog hard top, a midget hard top will not fit the rear frog end.
Hope this helps. Rob

Hi Rob,

Thanks for the info, I 've just been looking back through the archives - are you going this route with a Frogeye body for your conversion?

Sorry another random question but do you have a type 9 for your conversion as I was just mocking mine up and the forward lever throw feels the same for 1st and 3rd but 5th seems not to go as far forward - just wondered if this is normal or if 5th isn't engaging fully on the box I tried.

Cheers

Just ordered my frog conversion, let me know your email and I will let you know when its here so you can have a look, I am in Kingswinford, Where are you ?

As long as your type 9 doesnt jump out of gear I wouldnt worry too much, it has to be in gear or not, there is no half way.

Rob,

Yes I'd be interested in having a look, was it the Tifosi kit that you went for in the end

No, my car isn't running yet so I can't tell if it jumps out of gear. The lever just doesn't seem to travel as far forward to 5th as 1st and 3rd, nor does it feel as positively located as 1st and 3rd...

I'm M6 / M5 Junction so not far away

Cheers

Hi Spencer, Rob,

have you bought the Tifosi kit and if so what's the quality like as I'm tempted by the kit?

Thanks
