MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Head
I was just wondering if there is anyway of telling if a head has been modified for lead free petrol. The car had a recondition engine in 1990, it was a gold seal one by a company called Blue-ribon in Birmingham UK. I'm using additive at the moment but I think its time to get it sorted. Thanks Rich |

/unpopular opinion/ If you do less than 10K a year just lose the additive and don’t worry about the head. The only damage done is slight valve seat recession which can be solved by fitting inserts when it is worn (incidentally exactly the same job as making a head “lead free”) So why spend the money now when you can just drive it and do it when needed. I’ve run insert less for over 40k without difficulties, and since the midget is not my daily anymore And doing less miles I am keeping it that way |

sounds like a plan to me |

Agree with Onno. For the average mileage of a classic it's unlikely to need an unleaded head for a very long time. |
