MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Headlight Beam Adapters
I am off to France and can't work out where to fix the headlight adapters to the Frogs headlights. The instructions don't show a frogeye! So standing in front of the car the headlapms have markings on them that make a sort of cake slice shape (as if the hands of a clock where saying 7.45) do they go on this part of the glass? Any help gratefully received Mark |

Mark, UK head lights dip to the left, continental ones to the right, so you would need to put the stickers on the slices of cake which are on the passengers side of the car. If your doing a lot of driving, then i would change the units for LHD ones, they don't cost a huge amount if you shop around. |

Mark, this is where mine have been since 2003, Halfords one. no complaints either side of the Manche so far! |

Mark I have been going to France at least once a year in my midget or MGA for the past 20 years. I used to change my headlights to left hand drive versions until I got fed up with doing that about 19 years ago. The lamps are still on a shelf in my garage must pop them on ebay one time! Anyway since then I have done nothing to my headlamps as they are so pityfully powerful that they blind no one. Had a couple of laughs with the gendarmes about it but nothing to care too much about in simply leaving well alone. |

It's a while since I took a Midget to Europe, but I gave up buying beam benders (that fell off) and fancy sticky-backed plastic with a myriad of different shapes to cut out (none of which ever seemed to be right for the Midget). I found insulating tape worked fine. Jonathan |

Thanks guys. I have super new halogens and they could do with adjusting anyway so I need to mask. Bill I coudln't find my old masks; stuck them up somewhere safe (no not there!) and can't find them anywhere. So I bought a new set from Halfords and they must have improved the instructions as now there is even a picture of a round (lucas style)headlight unit with the appropriate lines in the instructions... and the good news is it agrees with you! Are you camping at LeMans with Gaz and chums again this year? Where do you rtend to watch the race from? This year we have seat sin teh new panaroma grandsatnd between the dunlop stand and the bridge! I am excited already... Mark |

Hi JC you posted since I last refreshed. My mate with a Midget prefers the insulating tape version, but us Frogeye drivers like the proper tool for the job ;0) |

How much did you pay for the grandstand tickets Mark? Are you a member and got the discount? |

Thanks for starting this thread Mark. I took my deflectors out of the packet this evening and couldn't begin to work out where to stick them (there were about a hundred different fitting patterns and none looked much like a Midget). You may appreciate mine being struck on in the right place more than anyone! |

I thought I was following you Ian? |

Mark wotcha IF we sleep, it'll be on Bleu Nord, quite a few of us in there Gary Toby Nick BobT et moi! Grandstand? What is one of them then? Are you an ACO member? I found almost no benefit to membership except lower camping and GA ticket prices. Not enough to justify the cost for me I'm afraid so I havent renewed. I'm not taking the badge off the grille though Bob are you a member? |

Hi Bill You are really proper LeMans guys! We are more your prawn sandwich brigade. We are staying with a lovely couple somewhere only the sat nav will find (see last September's MASCOT cover) about 30-40 mins away. We managed to stay untill about 2am last year; then the call of a bottle of our hosts red and a warm bed was too much to resist. We are going in two cars and two of us are ACO members, strangley not the drivers. The membership means we get the cheaper admission, parking and get to book a grandstand seat. We do move around but it's good to have a base to go back to or hide from the rain. Steve, who who has been far more than me, got fed up of standing on cold, wet, banks and got us the stand last year and it was good. Get your posh badge - I only have a window sticker stuck next to my MASC one. We will look out for you at Blue North (sounds like a dodgy bar to me!) Mark |

This would have been a beter picture to post!

THAT'S a better picture right on (I also have windscreen stickers too) Bleu Nord WILL be a dodgy bar once we get our cold beer in place I'm sure we will spare a cold one or two if you find us |

No I am afraid Bill that my membership lapsed some time ago when Carol banned me from going anymore. Must admit I agreed with her that going to France for Le Mans every year without her was a tad unfair. :-) Anyway some friends of mine from the MGCC have twisted my arm to go this year and I agreed when they told me that they had booked a nice B&B and bought tickets through the French club. :-) So I am like Mark I am afraid, love my comforts and the ambience of France, but camping in a soggy field with people from the UK, just is not France is it? Could do that at knockhill!! Hope you enjoy yourselves though! |

Bob we do the pre race week "au natural" so to speak but for our final night we have an evening of sybaritic pleasure in a small Hotel in Normandie, dinner in a posh (ever so posh) restaurant overlooking a small lake, then a leisurely drive to the ferries on Monday morning for the afternoon boat/train whatever. I try to feel bad about leaving Gwyn behind, but it doesn't wash... It's all her idea 'cos she wont renew her passport and she doesn't want a holiday overseas. She insisted I must go this year. I just go to keep the peace Well you have to make sacrifices sometimes don't you... |
