MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Horn wiring
During my problem with the horn push I was surprised to find out that the horn would stay on even with ignition "off" and key removed! Is that supposed to be normal? If my horn push would fail me and stay in "hoot" position I consider this a problem. Besides why and when would someone use the horn without ignition keys? |

yes. normal. it is wired into the always on, fused circuit (purple circuit). maybe it is so you can hoot to attract the attention of young members of the opposite sex whilst parked up at the local retro themed drive in diner?! :-D cheers Malcolm |

Thats not half as bad as the tourist trophy woody wheels... at 1st the horn would sound all by its self at 3am but the worst was just driving down the road and it would suddenly start blaring As malc says, the power is always on, its the grounding that keeps it from sounding and it gets grounding thur the metal of the steering wheel/column I had to use a piece of rubber padding to help avoid one part from contacting another metal part inside the horn he Im not sure that helps, but its a concept Prop |
