MG Midget and Sprite Technical - How do i fit the air blower on a 1275
Hi Could somebody please tell me or show me a picture of how to fit the air blower onto the footwell without it fowling the pedal box. I am just finishing off a major rebuild and cant get the blower bracket to fit and unfortunately I didnt take any photos before I took it apart. The footwell is a replacement and it doeasnt have any mounting holes for the blower bracket predrilled. Hopefully the picture will show the problem a bit more clearly. many thanks Rich Brown |

If that is a 1275 Spridget then I think the blower is the wrong one. All looks very strange???? |

Here's a pic from my '73, cellphone quality, but you can see how its suppose to be. On a RHD that is.

I do not think they went to the all in one unit until late '71. Mine is '70 and has the two part heater unit. |

You are correct trevor. Original Sprite and midget says that the change over happened in the month of september 1970. Mine was made in august and as such, has the separate blower. August is in the 1971 model year btw. |

Rich. You're not formerly of Longham, Dorset, are you? |

not sure if this is any help Rich this is with the early type pedal box but does show the relationship of the bracket and the throttle cable exit tube looking at your bracket the rubber insulator buffers that mine doesn't have might allow fitting over/above the newer style pedal box without interference this picture does show the actual place you eed to drill to fit it to though I took a couple of pics, I'll show 'em both first |

and poor contrast but you can JUST see it in situ |

The car is an early 1970 and I am fairly sure the blower and heater are correct for that year, however it could have been changed in the forty odd years since it was built. If anyone has a picture of the wider pedal box and seperate air blower that would be great. Thanks for all your pictures and advice guys Rich |

Let me go take a look at mine. It is LHD, but I think the cable mount is installed. |

Does this help

My rubber isolators are mounted to the blower, but I do not have any idea if it is correct. |

Captain Thomas I've been wondering where you are. You know this is all your fault, its the same old car I got in 92 and I reckon you should come and help me put it back together! Give us a call bufferbrown@btinternet.com |

Trevor Yes that does help it shows me that what i am doing is almost correct ( brackets round the right way etc) just cant work out why it seems to catch on the pedal box it just doesnt seem right. But as Bill said maybe the rubber isolators give just enough clearance to carry the bracket over the pedal box. Thanks for your help. Rich |

On my car the accelerator cable "port" is 2 inches from the bolt hole "line" of the pedal box. It looks to me as if yours might be closer. |

Captain (I assume) Brown! Still 'avoiding responsibility' on the right hand seat cushion. Long story involving Morris Minor, a 7 tonne truck and 18 months of surgery. Introducing you to cars was the only way to get you away from rockets and explosives! I'll e-mail you later today. Rob |
