MG Midget and Sprite Technical - How fast are your wipers?

Hi Guys

Just a quick question to get some form of concensus. How fast does everyones windscreen wipers work?

I've got a '76 midget which I have converted to 2-speed wipers. On slow speed I'm getting about 18 "wipes per minute" and for high speed it's going up to a whopping 22 (Wet screen, everything greased etc. etc.).

This seems extremely slow but I never bothered to check the speed before I made the modifications. What does everyone elses wiper speed look like?

How hard is the rain? I ask 'cos mine go faster if it's raining steadily!

Varies with electrical load as well.

I have two speed wipers, slow and stopped!!!

If the wheelboxes are tight or the control rod tight, they go slower. Motors also get slower with age.

I still have to sort mine out...they got slower and slower, then this last year, after I turn them off, they blow the fuse...vary odd, I can run them 1/2 hour, granted slow, but when I turn them off...pop goes the fuse....I asume the cable neded greasing...

But a short paint poll with a wieggy on the end does wonders, provided you dont have long sleves on your shirt.

Steve,

never thought to count mine.
Original motor but new rack with cleaned up and regreased spindles after it packed in completely.
The spindles were the culprit being very gunged and reluctant to turn!
