MG Midget and Sprite Technical - HS2 Carbs
I'm looking at a set of HS2 from a '69 midget for my '72 Midget. I have 9.5 Comp. Pistons +.20, 276 cam, with head and exhaust work The '69 carbs are AUD402 and the '72 carbs are AUD502 both have the fitting for the 'Y' hose fitting. My question is what's the difference and what's involved in exchanging them? Thanks, Phil |

The difference is probably the needle used. The 72 should have been an ABC needle, I won't "remember" what the 69 would be until I look it up at home. I believe both came stock with the poppet valves in the throttle plates, swung needles, etc. It is possible that the 69 carbs still have a ported vacuum port on the front carb (on the upper left of the mounting flange). Otherwise they are pretty much the same. David "all my SU books are at home" Lieb |
