MG Midget and Sprite Technical - IDENTIFY SPRITE ENGINES
HOW CAN I IDENTIFY 948/1050/1275 ENGINES? Which engine has side plates for cam followers? Photos would be welcome. |

The 948 and 1098 had tapet covers. The 1275 do not offcourse there are some exeptions in the world of prototypes and racing. But what do you want to identify a 948, 1098 or a 1275? Makes listing the external features easier |

I am helping a friend locate a 1275 for his bug-eye. I located one with tappet covers and do not know how to identify it as to displacement. |

An inline engine with tapet covers is not a 1275. A 1275 has a closed casting there and should have a tag on the side with 1275 iirc. Engine number should start with 12 |

Hello all Don't mean to hijack the thread but it got me to take a look at my engine No. My sprite has a donnor engine taken from a mk iii midget but was not the original for that car either. It is a silver seal replacement unit with the following id RKM1126E 13455. Does that mean anything to anyone? Mark |

Most likely a number from a rebuild program like the goldseal engines |

Onno, Pay attention, he said it was a Silver seal replacement :0) |
