MG Midget and Sprite Technical - ignition cutting out?
I have just had a new exhaust fitted to my 1970 MG midget. Now when driving the car, it seems to lose power when I accelerate and has cut out on me, what could the problem be? |

Just the exhaust pipe / silencer, excluding the manifold - or was the manifold disturbed as well? If only the pipeage was replaced, it shouldn't have had this sort of major effect on running. If the manifold was removed, then there could be an induction issue depending on what else was dismantled - the least of which may be a badly re-sealed inlet manifold. Otherwise it's a coincidental malfunction elsewhere. Why did you head your thread "ignition cutting out"? |

If it's not blowing anywhere, check your fuel line to the carb, it may be too close to the exhaust. |

when is it cutting out??? As soon as you start it, after its warmed up, at high rpm, low rpm, when you punch your foot on it, when its idling? when was the last time it was tuned, points or chips, how bad was the exhuast when replaced, and what was replaced on the exhaust Prop |

Insufficient oil in the carb dampers? -:G:- |
