MG Midget and Sprite Technical - ignition timing

hi i have a 1500 midget with a single 45dcoe weber and NON vacuum advance distributor. This on a road car withrest of engine standard at the moment.
Anyone any ideas as to the ignition timing. I am running about 16 btdc with no apparent pinking or running on.

id be tempted to run the engine to 4500 rpm and set the timming to around 28-32 degrees

and compare ghat to what you have now
