MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Indicator cancel clip
The indicator cancel clip is missing from my 1500 midget. Rapidly advancing senility means that I am more often forgetting to manually cancel the indicators. This sometimes becomes quite entertaining. As most people know, the cancel clip is no longer obtainable. The question is, has anyone made/tried to make their own? From the sketch in the Moss catalogue, it doesn't look too complicated. Allan |

Good question, Allan. My cancel clip is there, I presume, but needs some attention. I also find myself signaling unintentionally, and it bugs me because I fancy myself a fastidious driver, and I grump about other drivers leaving their signals on. Both of us will be watching this thread! -:G:- |

I'm sure a simmer device could be fashioned using a jubilee clip |

I initially thought about a jubilee clip (my first thoughts for most jobs!) but looking at the Moss clip, it looks to me as if it isn't clamped tightly to the steering column but merely clips on. My guess is that's to stop it jamming against something thus interfering with the steering. I've got a vague recollection of having seen similar clips somewhere but my memory is displaying a blue screen. Allan |

The clip is still in place on my midget, but the indicators rarley canel on their own, I assume due to finger of the indicator mechanism being worn, so i too will watch with interest. Alan |

I have the clip on the column but sometimes the indicators fail to cancel. With the hood down I cannot hear the flasher unit so I am often unaware of them being on (until the embarassing near traffic incident!!). That's why I fitted a buzzer to give a loud audible warning so I can manually cancel. I believe there was a thread on this BB recently which discussed this. |

As mine cancel as and when they feel like, I have got into the habit of returning the stalk to the central position manually every time. Easiest and cheapest solution!! |

surely they all do this, within hours even of fitting a new stalk the cancelling metal cover device on mine needs a slight reshaping easy enough some day--one day |

Allan - I have a few spare columns at my lock up -- I will look and see if they have the bit still on them -- you can have one if so! |

Many thanks Mick. If you find one, please can you e-mail me on allanhack8 at yahoo dot com. Allan |

My 76's signal switch is tempermental. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't yet the right side works ok. Go figure. However, I have been used to driving a number of vehicles that didn't have a self-cancelling feature so it's almost automatic to check/cancel my signal. |

I made an improvement to mine by gluing a cut off piece of cable tie (Ty-wrap)to the face of the clip. It gives the arms a bit more of a knock. Dave |

Allan -- did the clip arrive yet??? |
Mick |
Mick, No sign of it yet but the post is usually slow around here. It could even be held up at the customs post at the border. Allan |

Mick, Cancel clip arrived today. I'll fit it at the weekend. Many thanks, Allan |
