MG Midget and Sprite Technical - indicator warning buzzer

has anyone fitted a flasher unit with a warning buzzer ,indicators cancel when they want and sick of leaving them on

Cue: Alan A ?

I fitted a buzzer and it drove me mad and had to remove it. You would be better off finding something that clicks like on most cars.
Mike Howlett

just add a small piezo buzzer across the terminals of your existing flasher. Will cost you £2 or so. I have one on my A.
Dominic Clancy

I did what Dominic did and then did what Mike did and for the same reason.
Chances are the plastic self cancelling arms are tired and don't have enough tension to cancel.
The solution - and it's not my idea, is to use a rubber band to increase the tension. I use the blue rubber bands which spring onions come wrapped in. They're small and exert just enough pressure to enable self cancelling.

You could take the cowling off and have a look to see if the arm or cancelling strip are out of line to each other (or can it have the wrong strip fitted?). If it is jack and support the front so the steering wheels are off the ground to get a full range of steering movement to fully operate the indicator cancelling.

Mine is slightly out but near enough as I've never got it quite right because I've never bothered to jack the front wheels up to get full range of movement, I just got used to not having a cancel originally and manually turn off even when driving other cars.

Re-program your brain ???
GuyW

Done it...... and removed it.
Graeme Williams

What, your brain?

I fitted one from 4sight Automotive for the same reason - bettercarlighting.co.uk . It clicks rather than buzzes. So more of a period sound .

It is not intrusive round town but you can hear it at a reasonable speed. I also have their hazard warning kit fitted.

Cheers
