MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Inlet manifold
I bought a tired pair 1 1/4 SU HS 2 carburetors with manifold. After a lot of work (I like that kind of work), the carburetors work fine on my 948 cc. Better than the original H1: No more leaks, the dead spot at 4000 rpm is gone, top speed improved! One of the previous owners of this pre owned original sprite or midget manifold increased the inlet diameter from 1 1/4 to 1 ½. Will I keep that manifold or look for another 1 ¼? Flip |

Flip Not the best idea to have a step up like that in the manifold, .Rather than buying another, maybe find some alloy tubing that you can fit in there to reduce it back to 1 1/4 You could epoxy it in , it can't go anywhere willy |

I can't tell if that's tapered or a step. Either way I would roughen the surface and build it up with a good metal based epoxy then port match to the carbs and gently blend into the throat of the manifold. |

A tube is a better option epoxied or welded in place With just epoxy on it's own, the risk of a piece dislodging and going inside is too great |
