MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Instrument bulb holder clips
When I took my dashboard out and disconnected all the instruments, I lost some of these small metal clips that hold some of the bulbs in place at the back of the instruments. I can’t find them in the moss catalogue or anywhere on the internet. Has anyone else come across these? Are replacements available? |
Chris Madge |
Odd - I've never seen them before. Only know of two types of bulb holder, either the multi-claw ones that clip into a round hole in the back of the instrument casing, or the narrower smooth holders that slide into a black plastic housing. |
David Smith |
David beat me to it. The bulbs are held by the types of bulbs holder that Moss would show, I think those might be a PO add-in/change, perhaps to overcome broken bulb holders(?). Far too sophisticated for a midget. |

I’ve seen these on my light holders, well at least one - the full beam in the speedo. The bulb is a push fit into a plastic holder, there’s 2 of these, one each side which contact the bulb on insertion. I think they are for completing the circuit in some way? Sorry, I’m not good with electrics. I’m not aware you can get them anywhere new so you could try the likes of Richard Woolley or Dave Jennings? |

Chris, I apologise, you must be emotionally shattered to discover I could occasionally be wrong. If you need to do seek counselling. Peter is right, they appear to be part of the gauge though, perhaps combined holders/reflectors, when you feel strong enough again you could try gauge repairers or someone could cannibalise from a non-working gauge. Take you're time, you will recover, others have. |

I thought they were for the plastic fitting for the ignition warning light. |

They come off the three plastic warning light holders on 1500 Midgets - I have some, how many do you need? |

What's on the indicators tell-tale lights on the later 1500 dash, the one with raised circular rather than the arrows cut out of the dash? So many different parts to the Spridgets over the years. |

Chris could you spare 5 please? I’m happy to pay you for them of course. Can you contact me on my email above? Thanks :) |
Chris Madge |
Will do - I have 4 on my desk atm - I'll look to see if I can find some more tomorrow. |
Chris at Octarine Services |
Chris, can you reply to my email please so I can get the clips off to you. |
Chris at Octarine Services |
Hi Chris, I have just replied. thanks again ! |
Chris Madge |
