MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Jumping out of reverse, Jack Knight box
I use a midget for some autotests and Targa rallying. At the last AT, which had too many reverse manoeuvres, it started jumping out of reverse gear when stressed. From reading around the subject it seems to be one of three things; worn selector fork, weak detent spring or worn gear teeth---or a combination of these. The box in question is a Jack Knight dog box, all forward gears still work fine. As the reverse still works and I don't really want to remove the box just yet I am going to compete in a few Targa rallies where there will be no stressed reversing. Can anyone see a problem with this wrt causing any more damage? Does anyone know if a Jack Knight reverse selector fork is the same as standard? If not, does anyone have any JK bits for sale!?
