MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Late handbrake cable too long
Hi Lads having just completed the refurbishment of the rear drive train, including replacing all the brake components and the line to the master cylinder, it was time to fit the brand new cable. This had to be adjusted to the limit of its travel to work. This indicates to me that it is not to original spec being at least 20mm too long at the driver's side. Anybody else had troubles like this? Rod |

Hi Paul and Dave steel wheels, new drums, shoes and removed all slack from the actuator lever. I actually rebuilt this to remove the round rivet head which actually fouls the return spring. It now works better than factory and is easier to install. I'll modify (shorten) the driver's side linkage at a later date, too busy repairing the damaged front suspension mounting points (elongated holes where the A-arm attaches) cheers |
