MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Lcb manifold & exhaust 1098 engine
Hi I need to replace the exhaust on my standard 1098 cc engine. I have a LCB manifold hanging around that I intend to swap for the standard one and thought about fitting a Magic midget RC40 or the stainless big bore version. My question(s) are will it give any performance benefit other than sounding nice and would the carbs require re- jetting? Thanks Andy |

may well release a couple of BHP, if you are keeping the same air filter on the inlet the jetting should not need changing. |

Thats something I have been thinking about on mine and have been wondering which lcb to use as all the usual suppliers say use the 1275 one, but Maniflow's website says the 998 one. Any thoughts? Trev |

I have a 1098cc engine with a 12G295 head. Kim Dear @ Magic Midget supplied a Maniflow manifold to me which is a perfect fit even with a Shorrock supercharger installed. I had a bad experience previously with a PECO manifold which did not fit well Simon |

Presume you have the 1275 one then Simon as that is what Kim's website suggests. I would definately have a Maniflow and would contact them before buying but it just seems strange with their experience that they seem at odds with everybody else. Trev |

Trev, I cannot remember what exactly I ordered, but I did ask Kim's advice prior to ordering. As an aside, I too have his RC40 system and it's a bit tight around the fuel tank / axle. I had to mount the oval silencer at 90 degrees (i.e. with the long axis of the oval vertical) to get it to fit. So it looks a bit odd from the back. Simon |

Another vote for Maniflow and for the RC40 system. Retained the original air filters and jets but IIRC richened the mixture by a couple of flats. |

Hi Andy If you take your time, it's perfectly feasible to fit an RC40 box horizontally between the spring and the tank - see attached pic Glynn |

Thanks for the comments, RC40 it is then :) |
